Tusshar Kapoor talks about the other side of nepotism: ‘Have been written off maximum times’ Filmymeet

Film industry veterans are frequently accused of using their family’s connections to land roles. The flip side of the nepotism problem is hardly discussed, though. Actor Tusshar Kapoor, who is the son of superstar Jitendra, recently revealed how the constant criticism of him and his work was hurting him. He also talked about how he had to continually prove himself since some people kept trying to undermine him.
During a conversation with India Today, Tusshar discussed his struggles and the pressure people put on him to prove his talent. He shared that he’s ‘used’ to it. He stated, “I feel blessed to have got the opportunity to prove myself. I think I am one of the actors who have been written off maximum times. When my first film came, there was a lot of media scrutiny. ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai’ worked, but people were not sure of me. Then, the second one came, and it did not do well. After a few others failed to work, many felt that I did not have it in me till ‘Kya Cool Hai Hum’ came and I found standing in comedy.”
The actor further added that despite several obstacles, he was able to reach several milestones in his career. However, at times, he said he experiences feelings of exclusion from a particular group and believes that this group is affiliated with a fraternity that seeks to hinder one’s progress. He stated despite this unfortunate reality, he has matured beyond such negativity.
Tusshar also expressed his gratitude and said that fortunately, there is a supportive audience that does not pass judgment based on his past actions. He further added, “People do keep talking about the pros that one has of coming from a film family; I did have my share. But, I also faced a lot of cons and constant scrutiny. I was put to the test time and again as a new student. I am game to fight this because it also keeps me on my toes.”
When Tusshar was questioned about his mantra to keep himself sane amid low points and persistent negativity. He shared, “Thankfully, I have a son now who is my stress-buster. I look at life in a way where I am focussed and positive. Also, I am into fitness and Buddhism keeps me sane. All of this together keeps me going. I firmly believe that there’s light at the end of every tunnel. There have to be ups and downs, otherwise life will be very boring. I am just grateful to be still here speaking to you all about my projects. That makes it all worth it,” he added.
On the work front, Tusshar Kapoor is busy with the promotions of his latest OTT show ‘Dus June Kii Raat’.
