Twinkle Khanna recently called out netizens for making jokes about Akhiyon Se Goli Maare after Govinda accidentally shot himself in her blog with Times of India. She criticised the insensitivity of finding humour in someone else’s misfortune, urging people to be more thoughtful and considerate during such incidents.
She elaborated on the concept of the ‘Superiority Theory,’ which suggests that people often find humor in making jokes at the expense of others who are less fortunate.Twinkle shared, “Modern theorists categorize jokes into three main types. The Superiority Theory is where laughter comes from another’s misfortune. This may explain why memes about ‘Akhiyon Se Goli Maare’ circulated when my favorite comedian, Govinda, accidentally shot himself in the leg.”
Fans were left deeply concerned after Govinda accidentally injured himself with a bullet. The incident took place around 4:45 AM when the actor’s licensed revolver misfired while he was putting it back in the cupboard. Following the self-inflicted injury, Govinda reassured his well-wishers in an audio statement shared by Shiv Sena leader Krishna Hegde.
In his message, he said, “Namaste, pranam. I am Govinda. Due to your blessings, my parents’ blessings, and the grace of my guru… I was shot, but the bullet has been removed. I thank the doctors here, especially Dr. Garwal. Thank you all for your prayers and support.” At the time of the incident, his wife, Sunita Ahuja, was reportedly in Kolkata, while their daughter, Tina Ahuja, remained by his side throughout the ordeal.
