Rajinikanth’s action drama ‘Vettaiyan’ premiered on October 10 with high expectations but the film has received a decent response at the box office. According to Sacnilk, ‘Vettaiyan’ grossed close to Rs 1.2 crore on day 17, and the film takes the weekend advantage. Rajinikanth’s film saw a peak as the number for the film looked low on day 16, and the social drama is anticipated to peak further today (Oct 27). The overall collections of ‘Vettaiyan’ have reached Rs 250 crore globally. Despite these numbers, Vettaiyan has fallen short of matching the massive success of Rajinikanth’s previous hit, Jailer.
Opening to mixed reviews, the film’s box office performance has reflected declining audience interest despite its prominent cast. Currently, Vettaiyan has grossed Rs 143.3 crore in India and Rs 246 crore worldwide, a stark contrast to Jailer, which reached ₹604.5 crore globally. This latest release of Rajinikanth has left fans and the production team disappointed with its underwhelming reception.
Directed by TJ Gnanavel, ‘Vettaiyan’ tackled the topic of fake encounters. The socially driven drama stars Rajinikanth in the lead, supported by a powerhouse cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Rana, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan. While reviews were mixed, performances by Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, and Fahadh Faasil stood out, earning particular praise from audiences. Anirudh Ravichander’s background score was a highlight, adding depth and making the film more captivating overall. Latest reports suggest ‘Vettaiyan’ will be available for streaming on November 7, and the film will be streaming in multiple languages to gain wider attention.
