Vicky Kaushal, Ammy Virk and Triptii Dimri starrer Bad Newz, which revolves around heteropaternal superfecundation seems to have finally run its due course at the box office. After a good start, the film has finally managed to cross the Rs 60 crore mark on the third Monday. However, since then, the film has not even once crossed the Rs 50 lakh mark.
On Monday, the film earned Rs 45 lakh, which helped it cross the Rs 60 crore mark. On Tuesday again, the film minted the same amount and on Wednesday, the collection stayed in the same range, and earned Rs 44 lakh as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 61.2 crore. The film will remain as the fourth biggest hit of Vicky’s career after Uri: The Surgical Strike, Sam Bahadur and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.
The film’s prospects were significantly impacted for several reasons. Firstly, its niche concept failed to resonate with audiences in the interior regions of the country. Secondly, the release of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which has grossed over Rs 100 crore at the Indian box office, further hindered its success.
All eyes for Vicky will be on his next film Chhava, directed by Laxman Utekar and backed by Dinesh Vijan – a biopic on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj with Rashmika Mandanna playing his wife. Post which, he will be working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. On the other hand, Ammy Virk will be seen in Akshay Kumar led Khel Khel Mein and Triptii’s next release is highly anticipated Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
