Co-starring Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk, Bad Newz marks the second consecutive hit for Vicky Kaushal, post the success of Sam Bahadur, which minted about Rs 95 crore at the box office. In the interim, he was also part of Shah Rukh Khan’s film Dunki (as a cameo), which minted more than Rs 227 crore in India.
With Bad Newz, Vicky showcased a new side to his craft; someone who can do comedy and has the grace of a dancer.The film minted Rs 42.85 crore in the first week, and had added another Rs 13 crore in the second week, with one more left for the week to end. Though the collection dropped in the second week, the film has sustained well. On Friday, the movie earned 2.15 crore, followed by 3.25, 3.75, 1.2, 1.4, and 1.25 crore through the week, respectively, thus taking the total collection of the film to 55.85 crore.
The trade is expecting the film to at least cross Rs 60 crore mark by the end of the weekend. It might face competition from two releases, one of them is Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha. On the other hand, there is also Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool & Wolverine and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, which are still fighting at the box office.
