‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video‘ has now completed a 10-day run at the box office and while the first weekend was pretty decent, it started seeing a gradual dip from Monday onwards. The movie was mainly targetted to the massy centres, and two-tier, three-tier cities as well, however, the trade felt that the film’s title led to the perception that the film cannot be watched together by families.Hence, that may have affected its footfalls.
The film which starred Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri in the lead, made around Rs 27 crore in its first week up till Thursday which was day 7. On its second Friday, it collected Rs 1..4 crore. On Saturday and Sunday though, the good news is that it did see a jump at the box office. There were no new releases and this was really hoped for. ‘Vicky Vidya…’ made Rs 2.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 2.60 crore on Sunday. Thus, the film’s total collection so far is Rs 33.25 crore according to Sacnilk.
On Friday, there were no new releases. ‘Singham’ and ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’ re-released in cinemas on October 18. Hence, ‘Vicky Vidya..’ didn’t face any other competition. Meanwhile, the film had released with Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra‘ but always had a slight edge over it as this one is more a niche, multiplex movie.
Both these movies will still get more scope to perform as it’s an empty window at the box office till November 1, Diwali, when we shall see the big clash between ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3‘.
