Vijayta Pandit recently shared how her relationship with Kumar Gaurav faced challenges due to her financial status, which Kumar’s family disapproved of. She also revealed that Kumar was very possessive and had once injured his hand in a fit of jealousy. Vijayta later married the late singer Aadesh Shrivastava.
In an interview with Indian Express, the actress reflected on how she put her thriving career on hold after Love Story.Although she received numerous film offers, her focus shifted towards marriage. Kumar Gaurav discouraged her from pursuing acting, suggesting she didn’t need to work as he would take care of everything. He was aware that his father was having her removed from films.
When asked if co-stars falling in love was unusual in the 80s, Vijayta explained that it was quite common, especially among those involved in romantic films. She mentioned that actors often concealed their relationships to protect their careers, as many who starred in love stories would end up in real-life romances.
Vijayta revealed that while her on-screen Love Story became a hit, her real-life romance with Kumar Gaurav ended in heartbreak. She felt she was the only one who truly suffered, as his family opposed their relationship and pushed him towards Namrata Dutt, believing she was a better match due to her wealth and family background.
The actress shared that Bunty was deeply loyal and loved her intensely, making it hard to believe he would ever leave her. She recalled an incident at her birthday party when she danced with a school friend, and Bunty, out of jealousy, punched a glass, injuring his hand. His possessiveness reassured her of his love, and her family was supportive of their plans to marry, as he often visited her home.
Vijayta revealed that their relationship ended due to differences in financial status. Kumar’s family believed she wasn’t wealthy enough for him and wanted him to marry someone richer. Rajendra Kumar, being focused on financial standing, felt that Vijayta’s family wasn’t affluent enough, despite them being well-off, just not at his level.
After Kumar Gaurav’s marriage, Vijayta Pandit appeared in a few films but admitted that her heartbreak made her lose interest in acting. Now, she’s ready to return, even open to playing a hero’s mother if the role is meaningful. Vijayta is also working on a music album, performing live, and is eager to see her son Avitesh in films.
