Aamir Khan’s Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, starring Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava and Ravi Kishan, is India’s official entry to the Oscars. The film is based on a story written by Biplab Goswami, with screenplay and dialogues written by Sneha Desai. However, not many are aware that there is a Junaid Khan connection with Laapataa Ladies.
Talking about it in an exclusive interview with ETimes, Sneha shares, “ So I had gone to narrate Maharaj to Junaid, it was supposed to be his debut film.So during the narration, Aamir Khan Sir and Kiran also sat for it. Junaid signed on for the film, but then lockdown happened, and then the film was in limbo for a while, and that is when Laapataa Ladies was offered to me, and I was told that now nobody has work and everyone has time; this is the story we are toying with and would like to work on it …so it has been a series of wonderful co-incidences.”
Sneha is slowly becoming an Aamir Khan family specialist, as she has also been roped in for Junaid Khan’s upcoming film with Khushi Kapoor too, directed by Advait Chandan, which is slated to release on 7th February 2025. The film is an official remake of Tamil film Love Today. She also another film in the making which is backed by Aamir Khan productions.
