Bollywood star Alia Bhatt and her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, welcomed their first child, Raha Kapoor, in November 2022. Alia has been enjoying motherhood and has been juggling between her personal and professional life.
Motherhood has changed Alia’s life, she revealed. Meanwhile, she was opening up about motherhood in a touching interview for Humans of Bombay. She quite candidly shared how life becomes tough at times .”Life is tough for everyone, so I can’t sit and complain,” she said. Alia also joked about it saying that whenever she feels overwhelmed, one glance at her baby rejuvenates her, “Just one look at my baby and I have 1000-watt energy.”
While discussing the issue of “mother’s guilt”, Alia said she felt that way through the entire time she was away from Raha due to her work commitments. She emphasized the importance of maternity leave and called upon more companies to stand behind new mothers when she most needed it. “It’s a pretty normal feeling, actually, but what I have to remind myself is that I did my best,” she said.
Talking about mental health Alia says, “These new mothers should also take time off and have breaks because self-care works positively for your relationship with your child. Whatever makes you happy will also keep your baby happy.” She noted as she goes on to encourage moms to seek time for themselves.
She also talked about the strong support system around her, especially her husband Ranbir and family, that helped her sail through this new stage in life. “What really helped me was my support system-my husband, my sister Shaheen, my mom, and my family. They would tell me that I am a good mother, I can do this, and so on,” said Alia
As Alia set off on this incredible journey, she noted that this was only the beginning. “It’s probably the best trip I have ever undertaken so far in my life,” she said. Such glimpses into Alia’s life are not about individual achievements but instead an inspiration for many new mothers.
