Veteran star Atul Parchure, known for his contribution to both Bollywood and Marathi cinemas, breathed his last on October 14 at the age of 57. He had been battling cancer for the past few years.
In a throwback interview with the Bombay Times, Atul opened up about his cancer treatment, revealing that the lack of work during that time caused him sleepless nights.
The senior actor had revealed that he was confident he would overcome his battle with cancer, so much so that he never even asked about the stage of his illness.He didn’t feel any fear about dying and remained optimistic throughout.
Despite losing 20 kgs due to the ailment, Atul expressed no concern, believing he could easily regain the weight. Reflecting on the past eight months, he described them as difficult for both him and his family, including his mother, daughter, and wife, whom he referred to as his “three pillars.”
During this time, he decided to keep his condition private, feeling it was his battle to fight without involving others. Now that he had almost overcome it, he felt more comfortable discussing it. While in the hospital, he was aware of rumours that he had only six months to live, but he dismissed them, remarking that people say all sorts of things on social media without any basis.
In the same interview, he highlighted how crucial Mediclaim was in easing his financial stress during his cancer treatment. He mentioned that it, along with his savings, significantly helped him manage expenses, which would have been challenging otherwise. He also noted that his family’s support kept his spirits high, as they never treated him like a patient.
Parchure was a versatile actor celebrated for his exceptional comic timing and memorable performances across various platforms. His talent and charm made him a cherished figure in the entertainment industry.
