When James McAvoy took a jibe at Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man in future 'X-Men vs Avengers' clash: Just turn off the power and he is done | Filmymeet

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman with their latest film ‘Deadpool and Wolverine‘, ushered in the era of the ‘X-Men’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with their epic multiverse cross-over. Amidst chatter of the exciting new possibilities that await superheroes in the MCU, a throwback video of James McAvoy from the red carpet of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ has now resurfaced on social media.
Known for his portrayal of Professor Charles Xavier in the ‘X-Men’ franchise, the actor was asked to share his thoughts on a potential ‘X-Men vs. Avengers’ crossover. In a light-hearted comment, he said that the clash would be a ‘disaster’ for Earth’s mightiest warriors, who he explained were no match for the mutants.

“There’s like 40 of us, and 5 of them,” he said and playfully took a jibe at Robert Downey Jr‘s Iron Man and the other Avengers saying, “One of them’s half-man, half robot. You just turn off the power and he’s done! Another one’s a guy with a shield who is a bit strong. I mean, come on! And there’s another, a guy with a bow and arrow.”

Explaining why the X-Men were clear winners in this faceoff, he said, “We’ve got guns and stuff. He’s (Wolverine) got claws. I can just go like (touches forehead) ‘sit down’ and they’ll all sit down. I’ll be like ‘Have a cup of tea’ and they’ll all be having a cup of tea.”
The idea of an ‘X-Men vs. Avengers’ film has long been a dream for many fans, especially since Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox, which brought the X-Men under the same corporate roof as the Avengers. The viral video comes at a time when Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed that an X-Men vs Avengers battle is ‘possible now’.

Speaking to Comicbook.com’s Phase Zero, Feige said, “So when we were doing [Captain America:] Civil War for instance, or even [Avengers:] Infinity War, there were just dozens of characters that we had to take out of those comic stories because we didn’t have access to them. Now as we choose upcoming storylines, we don’t have to do that, and we have access to all of them.”

While buzz about the X-Men in the MCU hit a new high this month with the release of ‘Deadpool 3’, last year, it was ‘The Marvels’ starring Brie Larson, that set the ball rolling for the mutants’ entry with an epic post-credit scene that saw the return of Beast and Binary.
