When Karan Johar revealed Shweta Bachchan got the OCD gene from her mom Jaya Bachchan: “It’s a family thing”

Do you think you always have a compulsive need to adjust your cutlery in a certain way on the dining table? Or do you keep re-adjusting the stationery on your desk? If yes, then you share a trait with one of the biggest Bollywood families – the Bachchans. Here’s how:
Once on her show, Neha Dhupia had Shweta Bachchan and Karan Johar as guests, and that is the time the host picked up the topic of OCD.According to Neha, Shweta Bachchan has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, so she asked her “Neha asked Shweta, “What’s with this OCD? Why do you keep adjusting things.” To this Shweta replied, “I don’t.”
Shweta said she just likes things a certain way. She doesn’t like to label herself as a person with OCD, as it has become very common. This was the moment when Karan Johar chimed into the conversation and gave insights into Shweta’s OCD behavior. “We went out for dinner once and I have a big problem that I eat off other people’s plates.”
To her defense, Shweta mentioned she couldn’t bear it. Karan then continued, “Shweta, OCD’s brand ambassador, doesn’t want to admit to her problem because she’s almost embarrassed about the extremity of the problem. But I have eaten something from her plate. Then very quietly she put her fork and spoon down and she didn’t eat. Much later she told me that she didn’t eat because I had eaten off her plate and she went home hungry. That’s when I realised the extent of her madness.”
The ‘Rocky Aur Rani..’ fame director mentioned that Shweta gets it from her mother Jaya Bachchan. He said that when he was narrating ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ to Jaya, the actress’ complete attention was focused on the person cleaning her silverware. He added Jaya didn’t stop finding faults in the cleaning while he narrated emotional scenes to her.
“It’s a family thing. Then Amit uncle (Amitabh Bachchan) came on my show and told me how they mark every newspaper with a tag when they’ve read it. So when Amit uncle has finished reading the Times of India, he’ll write ‘AB tick’, then it’ll go to AB Jr (Abhishek Bachchan) then JB then SB. It’s a methodical family,” Karan Johar explained.
