Mithun Chakraborty is called the OG ‘Disco Dancer’ of the industry and has done a long list of movies. Infact, he is holder in the Limca Book of Records for 19 movie releases as lead actor in the year 1989, and the record is still not broken by any other actor in the industry. But did you know that during the initial stage of his career, no actress wanted to star opposite him?
The actor has opened up about it in many of his early interviews.A while ago, he also spoke about it during an episode on ‘Sar Re Gama Pa’. He had said, “No big actress was ready to work with me. I was a new actor.” While he didn’t indulge further in things written about him, many also had an issue with his skin colour. Mithun further revealed, “I thought I will never be able to go from being a B-grade actor to an A-grade actor. Heroines have said no to work on a film even after being announced.”
Mithun revealed many heroes at that point at that point in time also had strategised this against him. “They would threaten some actresses that if they worked with me, they would not work with them. Hence, no actress was ready to work with me. Then, one day, Brij Sadanah went to Zeenat Aman and asked her to do this film. She said, ‘What a good looking man he is. I will do the film.’
Mithun and Zeenat starred in this film called ‘Taqdeer‘.
Mithun said he will always be grateful to her as she broke the ‘panvati’ tag attached to him. After Zeenat Aman worked with him, all the other actresses also agreed to work with him.
