In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Rakul shared about her love for the iconic film. She reminisced about her fascination with Anjali’s tomboyish persona. She spoke about how while many viewers were drawn to Rani Mukerji’s glamorous character Tina, Rakul found herself captivated by Anjali’s simplicity and carefree nature. Reflecting on her childhood, Rakul revealed that she related to Anjali’s character more because she was a tomboy herself during her formative years. At just eight years old, Rakul was mesmerized by Anjali’s sporty look, especially her short hair, headbands, and comfortable, loose-fitting clothes.
For young Rakul, Anjali represented a relatable and refreshing character who broke away from conventional norms. She fondly recalled watching ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ on repeat, endlessly rewinding her favourite scenes featuring Anjali. The character not only entertained Rakul but also shaped her sense of style and self-expression during her early years. She shared how much she admired Anjali’s transformation in the film, and her own personal journey. “Just like that character got a makeover, look at me, I was a tomboy, and now an actress in a glamorous avatar all of a sudden,” she added.
On the professional front, Rakul Preet was recently seen in the much-anticipated ‘Indian 2’, where she shared the screen with legendary actor Kamal Haasan. Looking ahead, she is set to reunite with Ajay Devgn in the sequel ‘De De Pyaar De 2’, which is set to release on May 1, 2025.
