The new lady copy of the town – Deepika Padukone has several hit projects under her belt. Her movies are not only known for their commercial success but also for bringing forth a different version of Deepika every time. From the list of her highly acclaimed films, ‘Cocktail’ to date is a fan favorite. The intensity of Veronica’s characters and the several shades played by Deepika made ‘Cocktail’ a work to remember.
Though this Homi Adajania movie got love from critics and audiences alike, ‘Ramayana’ actor Ranbir Kapoor questioned Deepika’s choice of doing the movie. Back in 2015, when Deepika and Ranbir were promoting their movie ‘Tamasha,’ the actress revealed how the ‘Animal’ star felt ‘Cocktail’ was not the right film for her.
In his defense, Ranbir Kapoor didn’t know much about the movie, apart from the fact that Imtiaz Ali had worked on the script. He felt back then Deepika had many offers and better offers to be precise, and she went with ‘Cocktail.’
“She saw something special about Cocktail that probably I didn’t see. So, I asked her, ‘why you’re doing this film when you had so many good directors waiting to work with you? Why don’t you do their films?’ I think that was solely her choice and her instinct which was greater than mine. But ya, as a friend, I just asked her, I questioned her,” Ranbir quoted.
Many thought that perhaps Ranbir’s opinion would have changed after watching the film, but that was not the case. Though he didn’t appreciate the movie much, he admired Deepika’s work in the film.
Speaking of Deepika’s work, she is all set to engage her fans with a full entertainment package as she has entered Rohit Shetty’s cop-verse. She will be seen in ‘Singham Again’ as a lady cop, alongside Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, and more. The movie will be hitting the big screens on November 1, 2024.
