Cricketer Virat Kohli, turning 36 on Tuesday, November 5, has been India’s cricketing icon for over a decade. As fans speculate about a Bollywood biopic on him, many suggest that Virat himself or actor Ranbir Kapoor could be ideal choices for the role.
During promotions for his film ‘Animal‘ last year at Wankhede Stadium, Ranbir discussed the idea of a Virat Kohli biopic with Star Sports panelists. When asked by host Jatin Sapru which actor could portray Kohli, Ranbir suggested that Kohli himself would be ideal, noting his impressive looks and exceptional fitness, which rival those of many actors.
Although Virat Kohli has no film or TV acting experience, he has displayed his acting skills in numerous advertisements, some featuring his wife, Anushka Sharma. His performances in these ads have garnered praise from both filmmakers and fans, highlighting his natural on-screen talent.
In an August interview with Ranveer Allahabadia, filmmaker and casting director Mukesh Chhabra praised Virat’s natural talent, calling him a strong actor with an authentic Punjabi background. Chhabra admired Kohli’s success, self-discipline in fitness and mental strength, and mentioned Kohli’s love for chole bhature, describing him as a genuinely impressive person.
Chhabra noted that Kohli possesses the qualities needed for a successful acting career, highlighting his humor, dance skills, and sharp comic timing. However, he believes Kohli should focus on his cricket legacy and avoid joining films, even post-retirement, appreciating Kohli’s genuine nature over any ambition to enter cinema.
