When Ranveer Singh recalled his intense first kiss with Deepika Padukone on Ram-Leela set: 'We were oblivious to the world'

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone had revealed intimate details of their love story on Koffee With Karan season 8, and one of the highlights was an unplanned, intense kiss they shared on the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. Ranveer shared that he and Deepika were practically “inseparable” during the shoot, recounting that while filming a kiss scene, they were so lost in the moment that they didn’t even notice a brick that accidentally flew through the window.
Reflecting on the early days of their relationship, Ranveer shared his immediate attraction to Deepika. Their connection deepened quickly, with Ranveer feeling a “440-watt jolt” during their first lunch with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali when he reached over to help her with a piece of crab meat stuck in her teeth.
Deepika shared how, initially, they both kept things open, but she soon found herself returning to Ranveer repeatedly. She explained that while they were dating, there wasn’t a formal commitment until he proposed. Ranveer, on his part, knew within six months that she was “the one.” After secretly getting engaged in 2015, they kept it hidden for three years until their marriage in 2018.

Ranveer also shared the details of his Maldives proposal, where he surprised Deepika on a secluded sandbank, presenting her with a ring. The proposal came as a shock to Deepika, who got emotional and said yes. The couple eventually shared the news with Deepika’s family in Bengaluru in a memorable family dinner.

Ranveer and Deepika are now proud parents, having welcomed their daughter, Dua, in September 2024. The couple tied the knot on November 14, 2018, at Italy’s Lake Como.
