Rekha agreed and added that for the longest time, she was shy around men and didn’t know how to behave.
When asked about her childhood memories and the complicated relationship of her parents, the actress had revealed on ‘Rendezvous With Simi Garewal’. “I had a wonderful childhood. Whatever little that was, because I grew up very fast,” she said. Further talking about her mother and father’s relationship, she said, “It was a romantic relationship, and anything that has romance involved isn’t easy. I was a baby when he moved out. I don’t remember that. We were not given the impression that something was out of the ordinary or dysfunctional.”
Rekha’s father, actor Gemini Ganesan had left her mother Pushpavalli who was also an actress and gotten married to Savitri. When asked if her mother was affected by her father’s second marriage, she said, “If it did, she didn’t tell us. She was just so dizzy in my father’s love, and that’s what I saw.”
The actress added how she never had a relationship with her father as he would often come to drop his kids with the second wife to school, but never saw her. She said, “No. I never approached him. I never had the chance. He would just drop them and go.” She added, “I don’t think he noticed me. I don’t think he saw me.”
