However, there was a phase in the actor’s life when he had to face the wrath of directors, especially since he was a newbie. RJ J Man on the Inside the Mind with Rushabh podcast, recently paid a visit to the actor at his house Mannat, where SRK shared an anecdote with him.
SRK revealed to RJ that early in his career, he made a mistake by requesting a script from a well-known director, which upset the director. His mentor, Aziz Mishra, advised him that this was a misstep, prompting Khan to call the director to apologize. However, when the director asked if he was now going to be involved in the film, Shah Rukh Khan replied, “I called to apologize, but I’m still not doing your film.”
In the same interview, RJ J Man shared insights into Mannat, SRK’s opulent mansion at Bandstand, Mumbai. J Man described the journey to Shah Rukh’s study, which is located in a separate building behind Mannat. A dark wooden staircase with glass panels on one side leads up to a sturdy dark brown door with a silver handle. As he entered, J Man was immediately struck by the sheer number of awards and accolades lining the walls in glass showcases.
But the true star of the show was Shah Rukh himself, standing casually in the middle of the room in a pair of jeans, t-shirt and holding a cup of coffee. “He turns around and he says, ‘Hey guys’. And I was stunned at what a star that man was even at home,” J Man recalled in awe.

The affable superstar immediately put his guests at ease, asking if they had eaten and then getting down to business. J Man noted that despite his legendary status, Shah Rukh was incredibly down-to-earth and gracious.
J Man also noticed a rare Batman figurine lying around the study, which sparked an engaging discussion between the two Batman fans. As a parting gift, Shah Rukh even gave J Man one of his own cigarettes, which he still treasures.
Shah Rukh’s collection of awards is truly staggering – in an interview with The Guardian, he revealed that he has amassed a jaw-dropping 300 awards over the course of his illustrious career. These trophies are housed in a specially designed library that spans multiple floors of his office building. As he described it, “It’s bigger than this room! I have 300 awards. I have a nine-storey office and on every floor I have some of the awards. Actually, it’s not a trophy room. It’s a library which is designed like an English library.”
