Yami Gautam says she still doesn’t believe she’s a mother, calls Aditya Dhar a ‘burp expert’ and ‘hands-on father’

Actress Yami Gautam and filmmaker Aditya Dhar welcomed their first child, a son named Vedavid, earlier this year on May 10, 2024. The couple joyfully announced the news on their Instagram page, sharing a heartfelt message that expressed their excitement and gratitude. They described Vedavid‘s birth as a blessing that coincided with the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Yami opened up about her new role as a mother. She expressed her disbelief at being a mother and said “I still don’t believe sometimes that I am a mother! Especially when I have to refer to Vedavid as ‘my son’ while I am talking to someone. That’s the time when you spell it loud.”

Yami highlighted how Aditya has embraced fatherhood with enthusiasm, becoming an expert at burping their baby. She shared that despite Aditya’s busy schedule, he makes it a priority to spend quality time with them. “He is an absolutely hands-on father, a burp expert, and Vedavid loves him. You have to see the moment he spots Aditya! He lights up, feels so shy, and suddenly at the same time he jumps at him even before you know it!It’s like cable work happening at that time. Of course Aditya in the middle of his own shoot. But whenever he’s getting time, he’s coming and, and meeting us. The baby feels the happiness.”

Reflecting on her parenting journey, Yami acknowledged that no amount of reading or preparation can fully equip someone for parenthood. She believes that parenting is an ongoing learning experience where the baby teaches parents just as much as they teach their child. Yami also mentioned her approach to parenting advice, stating that she prefers not to rely heavily on the internet. Instead, she values the wisdom of mothers and expresses deep gratitude for her own mother’s support.
