Veteran actress Asha Parekh, who has been in the film industry for over seventy years, recently sat down for a candid conversation with Arbaaz Khan. In an episode of The Invincibles Series Season 2, she addressed longstanding rumours about her marriage to Shammi Kapoor and her strained relationship with Shatrughan Sinha.
Reflecting on her career, Parekh recalled an era when “actresses enjoyed alcohol.” She shared an incident where her eyes were so red from drinking that she refused to shoot the next day.She also humorously addressed the marriage rumours with her co-star Shammi Kapoor by quipping, “Yes, we were married.”
Parekh reminisced about a challenging moment when the legendary Guru Dutt told her mother that he didn’t think she could be a heroine. She also touched on her conflict with Shatrughan Sinha, explaining, “It was like let’s do just like the way I want. And then he gave some statements in the press, which were very derogatory to him, not to me.”

After the 1981 film Kaalia, Parekh reduced her workload and eventually stopped acting in films. She transitioned to television, directing the Gujarati serial Jyoti and producing shows like Palash ke Phool, Baaje Payal, Kora Kagaz, and Dal Mein Kaala under her production company Akruti. In 2008, she was a judge on the reality show Tyohaar Dhamaaka.
In the teaser, Parekh revealed that her return to acting was difficult, admitting, “It did impact me,” though she chose not to elaborate further on this challenging period.
