Renowned rapper and music producer Yo Yo Honey Singh, who has been open about his struggles with substance abuse and its impact on his mental health, recently revealed that he broke his year-long sobriety during Sonakshi Sinha’s wedding. Singh, who had been candid about quitting alcohol and drugs, admitted that he relapsed and consumed a significant amount of alcohol at the event in June, despite his initial commitment to stay sober.
In a conversation on The Lallantop, Honey Singh shared that while he occasionally drinks beer, he had avoided hard liquor like vodka and whiskey for over a year. Leading up to Sonakshi’s wedding, he had expressed excitement about dancing sober, telling the paparazzi that he had been off hard liquor for a full year. However, caught up in the festive atmosphere, Singh ended up drinking more than half a bottle of alcohol, joining the celebration with an impromptu performance at the wedding.
Recalling the event, Singh noted that although there wasn’t a formal stage, he took the microphone near the DJ console and energized the party with an unexpected performance. As the night progressed, he drank even more and admitted to leaving the venue in a highly intoxicated state, aware of the paparazzi waiting outside.
During the interview, Singh discussed his definition of sobriety, explaining that for him, it meant occasionally enjoying two pints of beer. When the interviewer mentioned that sobriety typically means complete abstinence from alcohol, Singh laughed and clarified that his approach was more about moderation rather than total abstinence.
