Yo Yo Honey Singh recently opened up about his music career and shared an honest assessment of his songs. In an interview with The Lallantop, the singer-rapper admitted that many of his songs lack meaningful lyrics. He reflected on how some of his popular tracks now seem strange to him in hindsight. Singh also spoke about what he considers the “worst song” of his career, acknowledging that some of his music hasn’t aged well and lacks depth.
When discussing the creation of ‘Aaj Blue Hai Paani Paani’ from the film ‘Yaariyan’, Singh admitted, “Aaj blue hai paani paani aur din bhi sunny sunny. What nonsense.” Reflecting on his discography, he acknowledged that many of his songs lack substance. While he considers ‘Brown Rang‘ to be a well-written and meaningful track and ‘Blue Eyes‘ to have been well-received, he questioned the value of songs like ‘Lungi Dance‘ and ‘Party All Night’, implying that they, too, fall into the category of songs with little depth.
He further admitted that he had no idea what he was doing back then, and felt that people were praising him without reason. Now, when asked to perform those songs, he laughs at himself, surprised that people are still obsessed with them. Despite this, he continues to earn revenue from these tracks, as they remain popular even today. He noted that these songs had a good beat and quirky themes but lacked meaningful lyrics, which he now finds quite odd.
Following a break from the music industry, 2023 saw Honey Singh’s return with the release of the song ‘Kalaastar’. His new album, ‘Glory’, is being promoted extensively. Moreover, his life and career will soon be featured in a documentary set to be released on OTT, giving fans an in-depth look into his journey.
