Choreographer-turned-filmmaker Farah Khan and Sajid Khan’s mother, Menaka Irani passed away on Friday following a prolonged illness. She was 79. Farah’s cousin and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar paid tribute to her aunt on social media and discussed how she shaped her life.
Menaka Irani’s death has left a void in the lives of those who knew her. Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar took to her Instagram and penned an emotional note.She expressed her deep sorrow along with a black-and-white picture of young Menaka Irani. Along with the post, Zoya wrote, “Menka Aunty You shaped my life in ways I will be eternally grateful for. You made me read, you made me laugh, you made me listen to country music and you made me feel like the most special girl in the world. You will always be adored and never forgotten. Rest in peace. Rest in Power @menkakhan (sic).”

Menaka Irani passed away on Friday, July 26 at around 3 AM. After the news of her death, several celebrities reached Farah Khan’s residence to pay their last respects to the choreographer’s mother. Celebrities like Rani Mukerji, Shilpa Shetty and Salim Khan, T-Series owner Bhushan Kumar and Sanjay Kapoor were spotted outside Farah Khan’s residence.
According to the reports, Menaka Irani had been unwell for quite some time and was in the hospital. Menaka was the sister of actors Daisy Irani and Honey Irani. Menaka was 79 years old when she passed away. She had worked as an actor in the 1963 movie ‘Bachpan’.
