With their renowned stories, the screenwriter team Salim-Javed defined a period in Indian cinema history. But their children, superstar Salman Khan and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, haven’t worked together on a project yet. Javed Akhtar’s daughter Zoya recently made a suggestion that such a partnership would be “delicious,” but it would depend on identifying the ideal topic that resonates with both of them.
Renowned filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, whose highly praised films include ‘Gully Boy’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, and ‘Luck by Chance’, expressed her excitement at the prospect of collaborating with Salman Khan.
During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Zoya talked about the idea of a potential collaboration with Salman. She stated, “It would be amazing! He is a megastar who has got a crazy persona and a huge fanbase. I have to obviously find a subject that works for him, his fans, and me. The minute we find a subject, it would be delicious, it would be a lot of fun.”
Zoya is co-producing the upcoming documentary ‘Angry Young Men’ on Amazon Prime Video, which explores Salim-Javed’s life and work. She revealed a story about meeting Salman Khan to talk about the series. She paid Salman a visit at his renowned Galaxy apartment with her brother, the actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar. “It was fun, we were in his lawn and had some tea, all his nephews were around. It was a nice feeling to be back at Galaxy because we grew up there and played in that garden,” Zoya recalled.
Salman was especially candid about the past throughout their talk, which covered every topic under the sun. As Salman was older than she and Farhan, Zoya observed that he had seen more of Salim-Javed’s glory days. He also shared memories both nostalgic and enlightening.
Fans were excited when Salim and Javed made vague references to a potential reunion for a future movie during the release of the ‘Angry Young Men’ trailer. When asked about the same, Zoya said, “I don’t know what they were cooking between them, but I hope I get to direct it! Because there are many contenders in the family, so I hope I get it!”
