Abhay Deol never fails to have women drooling over him. He has this appeal and charm which makes the internet fall for him, despite the fact that he’s not seen on-screen as often. His characters though, continue to remain memorable and he continues to be honest and vocal about his opinions. In a recent interview, Abhay has made quite a shocking revelation about his sexuality. However, his deeper thought process has left the internet impressed.
The actor shot for ‘The Dirty Magazine’ and in this picture, he can be seen kissing his own reflection in the mirror. This image has caused quite a stir on the internet. In an interview with the same magazine, Abhay spoke about his sexuality and said, “As a spectrum. I refuse the Western way of identifying sexuality because it’s so black and white. The Eastern approach is so different, it recognises the whole of us. I don’t define my sexuality, and this might sound controversial but for me it’s not something that I think can be defined.”
He further added, “We are all they/them, I think it’s more for the other person’s comfort, so that they can put you in a box, neatly slot you. Why should I define myself in Western terms? I have embraced all experiences in my life and I continue to do so. I don’t know how to label that, I don’t want to label that. All of us have a masculine and feminine within us, so in my opinion we are all they/them.”
His notion of masculity is the one who is able to make people feel safe and included. He feels like a ‘protector and provider as a man’. However, he is ready to switch roles and happily give up on that if the woman wants to take charge and lead.
On work front, Abhay will be seen next in ‘Bun Tikki‘ along with Shabana Azmi and Zeenat Aman.
