Anees Bazmee’s ‘Welcome’ is almost a cult film today and who would have thought so? While it looked like a mindless comedy, there are moments and characters from the movie which have immense popularity – for instance, Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor’s characters Uday Shetty and Majnu Bhai. Let’s also not forget Majnu bhai’s iconic painting which is used by Anees now, even in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3‘ and it has caused everyone’s attention.While recalling memories on the movie, Anees recently revealed that Nana Patekar just refused to hear the script.
The director recalled memories of casting Nana and working with him on the film. He told Lallantop, “Woh kahaani sunne ke liye hi tayyar nahin the (He wasn’t ready to hear the story). He said, ‘Mujhe kahaani nahin sunni Anees. Tum apni maa ki kasam khao aur batao ki mujhe ye karna chahiye (I don’t want to hear the story, Anees. You swear on your mother and tell me if I should do it or not).”
The ‘No Entry’ director also revealed that Nana finally heard the script for three hours and he was completely elated by it. The director also called himself a big fan of Nana and. While he had never experimented with comedy roles before ‘Welcome’, Anees felt he would just define comedy for everyone. He revealed that Nana did his comedy role with utmost seriousness in the movie.
The director also spoke about the stories he had heard about Nana that he’s difficult to work with, however, when Anees worked with him, he thought it was a complete contrast as he was a great actor to work with.
Bazmee’s next, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ is set to release this Diwali. It stars Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri.
