Sony TV’s popular crime investigation series CID is all set to be back next month. Starring actors Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava, and Dayanand Shetty, is returning after a six-year break. The series premiered in 1998 and ran for two decades before ending in 2018. While the first look of the revamped series was shared in October, the makers have finally revealed the premiere date with an intriguing new promo featuring one of the fan-favourite officers, Daya aka Dayanand Shetty.
Earlier, a promo shared by the channel showed Aditya Srivastava’s character, Abhijeet, aiming the gun at Daya and the latter being shot. Since then, fans have been anticipating this thrilling journey with the new animosity between these characters. The latest promo shared on the channel’s official Instagram handle shows Daya making a return despite his injuries with his distinctive style and enters, breaking open the door in style. He can be heard saying, “Dushman bhi mujhe mita nahi paaye, main wapas aagaya, apne liye ladne aur jo bhool gaya hai, usse yaad dilane ki liye – ‘Daya is back!'” The caption along with the post mentions, “Apraadhi chahe kitne bhi darwaze band kar lein, Daya se nahi bachenge!” The makers also announced the CID will return to the screens on December 21, 2024 and sir every Saturday and Sunday at 10 p.m. on Sony TV.
Fans are quite happy with the popular show coming back on TV. One of them stated, “CID IS BACK.” while another mentioned, “Wow!!! Absolutely fantastic news!!!!! I’m so excited to watch my absolute favourite show once again!”
Speaking about reprising his role in the show, Dayanand Shetty stated, “Some characters are etched in the minds and hearts of the people, and Daya is one of them. I’m overwhelmed with the love and admiration that continues to pour in, even after all these years. The memes, the jokes, the references – it’s all a testament to the impact that Daya has had on popular culture,” as quoted by Pinkvilla.
Meanwhile, on November 22, the makers of CID released a new video announcing the start of production for the highly anticipated new season of the hit television show. The actors and crew were present for a mahurat puja, which kicked off the shoot.
