In a heartwarming Diwali surprise, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh finally revealed the name of their first child on Friday. Their baby girl, born on September 8, 2024, has been named ‘Dua Padukone Singh.’ Deepika shared a heartfelt post on Instagram featuring pictures of Dua’s tiny feet and captioned, “Dua means ‘a prayer’ because she is the answer to our prayers. Our hearts are filled with love and gratitude. – Deepika and Ranveer.”
On Saturday, Deepika posted a video showcasing the precious moments that make new parenthood so magical. The video highlighted how new parents’ hearts melt when the baby tightly holds their finger with her whole hand, stretches adorably while waking up, and peacefully sleeps with her arms over her head. The video captures relatable details of newborn life, including her daughter’s habit of sleeping soundly through everything – a common joy for new parents. Sharing the video, Deepika also tagged Ranveer to express her mutual feelings with him.
The couple, who began their love story on the sets of Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram Leela, tied the knot in an intimate 2018 ceremony at Lake Como, Italy, with traditional South Indian and Sindhi-style wedding ceremonies. In a special moment on Koffee with Karan, Deepika and Ranveer shared their wedding video, giving fans an exclusive look at their cherished day.

In terms of work, Ranveer Singh’s latest film, Singham Again, released on November 1, with him reprising his role as Simba, joining Ajay Devgn’s Singham to face off against Arjun Kapoor’s villainous character. Deepika also appears in the film, making a powerful cameo as Shakti Shetty, a female police officer. Ranveer even mentioned at a recent press conference that their baby had her unofficial ‘debut’ since Deepika was pregnant while filming Singham Again.
Deepika’s recent films include Kalki 2898 AD, where she starred alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, and Kamal Haasan, as well as Fighter with Hrithik Roshan. While Kalki performed reasonably well, Fighter didn’t meet box office expectations. Although official announcements are pending, reports suggest that Deepika might soon be seen in The Intern with Amitabh Bachchan.
