At the Indian 2 trailer launch, veteran actor Kamal Haasan revealed his deep reverence for the late legendary actor Dilip Kumar.Haasan shared that he would visit Mumbai every year on Dilip Kumar’s birthday in December, just to “kneel before him and kiss his hand.”

Haasan expressed his desire to work with Dilip Kumar, recalling how he held the veteran actor’s hand and begged him to star in his film Thevar Magan. However, the collaboration never materialized as Dilip Kumar had decided to retire from acting. “I wanted to make Thevar Magan with him. It didn’t happen, so I gave it to another friend, who made it with Anil Kapoor Saab and Amrish Puri Saab,” Haasan said.
At the event, the actor also shared an anecdote about his collaboration with another Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, whom he directed in the film Hey Ram. Haasan revealed that Shah Rukh “made that film for free,” which he said was “not something a superstar would do.” He praised Shah Rukh as “a true fan of cinema, a connoisseur of art, and a brilliant actor.” Haasan also opened up about the challenges faced during the making of Indian 2, including the impact of COVID-19 on the film’s budget and an on-set accident. He acknowledged the tenacity of the producer and the director in not abandoning the project despite the setbacks.
