Is Nicole Kidman's viral 'Post-divorce' photo really from a movie?

Nicole Kidman has clarified the viral photo that several fans thought showed her as post-divorce relief after her separation from Tom Cruise. The photo has been everywhere online, which depicts her walking out on the street with raised arms, seemingly happy. Many have assumed this was taken after the couple divorced in 2001. However, Kidman recently debunked this in an interview with GQ, saying, “That wasn’t me; it was from a film, not real life. I know that image!”

But the internet doesn’t believe her. Fans remain skeptical and are still convinced it was taken at a paparazzi moment after her divorce, since to this date no one knows where it was taken from. One fan expressed skepticism, “I just did a deep dive, and not only does she fail to specify the movie, but none of her countless fans have a single theory on what film it could be from. I feel confident concluding that she’s lying—it’s a post-divorce paparazzi shot.”
Others mirrored this sentiment as one user sternly declared, “I searched everywhere. THIS IS NOT FROM A MOVIE.” Some bemoaned that it would end with their precious meme losing its magic, as in one user’s reply: “Oh please don’t ruin that for us.” Other supporters of Kidman countered with alternative explanations, like the possibility that this photo had come from a deleted scene or an unreleased film. One humorously even suggested it might be from her 2003 thriller ‘In the Cut’.

However, the mystery behind the origin of the photo does not detract from its beauty, which continues to fan the flames of discussion among fans. In the same GQ interview, Kidman also spoke of her emotional journey from the loss of both parents having passed away. Her mom, Janelle Ann Kidman, had died in September, and her dad, Dr. Antony Kidman, had died in 2014. “It’s a wake-up-at-3 a.m. crying and gasping kind of thing,” she described about grief, adding that she has decided to confront her feelings. She reflected on the intensity of life and death as she raises her two daughters, Sunday and Faith, with husband Keith Urban. “Mortality. Connection. Life coming and hitting you, and the loss of parents and raising children and marriage, and all of the things that go into making you a fully sentient human. I’m in all of those places,” she said, emphasizing the journey of life and personal growth.
