'Luv Ki Arrange Marriage' movie : Song filmed in Madhya Pradesh shrine upsets Jain community | Hindi Movie News Filmymeet

The Jain community has reportedly raised objections against an upcoming Hindi movie titled ‘Luv Ki Arrange Marriage‘ for depicting dance sequences around religious idols and sculptures at Sonagiriji Teerth, a revered pilgrimage site in Datia, Madhya Pradesh. The film, scheduled for release on June 14, has stirred controversy among the Jain community.
According to the Free Press Journal, Vishwa Jain Sangathan, a prominent community group, has taken a stand against the movie by sending legal notices to the film’s producers, actors, and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).The notices demand the removal of offensive scenes from the film and an apology to the Jain community for hurting their religious sentiments.
Sonagiriji Teerth, located approximately 60 km from Gwalior, boasts 108 Jain temples dating back to the 8th century. It holds immense spiritual significance for devotees and ascetics, who believe it to be a sacred site associated with Moksha (liberation). The Digambara sect of Jainism, known for its emphasis on renunciation, venerates these temples deeply. Moreover, the scenic beauty of the hilly region attracts tourists and filmmakers alike.

The controversy arose when Jains discovered a dance sequence from the movie, shot at the pilgrimage site, circulating on YouTube. Sanjay Jain, president of Vishwa Jain Sangathan, reportedly expressed dismay, stating that the song has disturbed the sanctity of a place where Jain saints and followers conduct rituals and prayers. It urges the board to compel the producers to edit out the mentioned scenes. The notice calls attention to the responsibility of the CBFC in approving films for public exhibition. They allege violations of sections 295A and 298 and other sections, which pertain to defiling places of worship and hurting religious sentiments.
