He recalled that Dharmendra was a poster idol for him, making their collaboration surreal. Despite knowing Dharmendra was on set, Rishi focused on rehearsing his lines and avoided looking at the star until it was time for the shoot.

After completing the scene, Mukesh Rishi expressed his deep respect by bowing at Dharmendra’s feet. He explained that he delayed meeting Dharmendra to prevent his admiration from affecting his performance. Rishi noted that personal experiences, rather than formal training, taught him how to interact with and work alongside esteemed individuals.
Mukesh Rishi and Dharmendra collaborated on several films in the 90s. Their first project together was the 1992 film Humlaa, starring Anil Kapoor. They later worked on Jeeo Shaan Se (1997), Zulm-O-Sitam (1998), Nyaydaata (1999), and Loh Purush (1999).
