Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer Stree 2 has set the box office of fire in India, minting over Rs 228 crore, and becoming the 29th biggest hit of Hindi Cinema. The magic of Stree is being witnessed not only in India, but also in North America, where over the first weekend, it ranked 9th in the Top Ten list of the weekend, with collections running into millions.
As per Box Office Mojo, Stree minted US $ 589,000 ( Rs 4.93 crore) on Friday, US $ 896000 ( Rs 7.50) on Saturday, and US $ 699.000 ( Rs 5.85 crore), thus taking the 3 day total of the film to US $ 2.57 million ( Rs 21.53 crore). While 19th August was a partial holiday in India on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, no such holiday was available in the USA, so one expected a major fall on Monday. However, it was rest assured that the 2018 horror comedy film will continue its good run at the box office.
The next big Indian release of the month is going to be Nani’s Saripodhaa Sanivaaram . The vigilante drama is slated to release on 29th August and has already crossed US $ 60,000 mark in advance BO.
Stree 2 also features Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Banerjee with guest appearances by Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan and Tamannaah Bhatia. The film belongs to Horror – Comedy Universe with Bhediya and Munjya already part of it.
