‘Golmaal’ actor Siddharth Jadhav has gained recognition for his versatile acting skills, comedic timing, and ability to portray a wide range of characters in Bollywood and Marathi cinema. Meanwhile, the ‘Simmba’ actor is gearing up for his upcoming Marathi film, ‘Hazar Vela Sholay Pahilela Manus‘, helmed by Hrishikesh Gupte.
During an inclusive chat with ETimes, Siddharth opened up about his film ‘Hazar Vela Sholay Pahilela Manus’, his casting and more.
What is Hazar Vela Sholay Pahilela Manus all about?
‘Hazar Vela Sholay Pahilela Manus’ is a story of a family that runs touring talkies. And what happens when the film Sholay comes into their lives is what our writer-director Hrishikesh Gupte has tried to tell. It feels great.
Why did you want to become a part of this film?
Because of this film’s story and the star cast – such great actors – Dilip Prabhavalkar, Sonali Kulkarni, Kishor Kadam, Arun Nalawade, and Milind Shinde. The film Sholay is involved in this film. The character Khandu that I played in this film is amazing. I can say only this much but I am sure people will like it when they watch the film. Everyone has watched Sholay but the fun of watching the film and what that film brings to your life is what made me want to become a part of this film. Moreover, Prajakta Datar has acted well in this film. I had a wish to work with Dilip Prabhavalkar sir at least once which was fulfilled with Hazar Vela… He is a great actor. So, the film’s title, story, actors and on top of that Sholay turning 50 soon got me excited about doing this film. It’s a beautiful story. Sholay’s producer G. P. Sippy’s grandson Rohan Sippy is also associated with Hazar Vela Sholay Pahilela Manus. I am very excited about the film.
I have watched Sholay many times. I watched the Sholay at Mumbai’s Sharda Talkies when it was re-released. I watch it whenever it is shown on television. Every character of the film iconic – Gabbar Singh, Jai-Veeru, Basanti, Thakur, Sambha, you name it. But my favourite is Jai (played by Amitabh Bachchan) because he is the symbol of friendship and sacrifice. He appeals to me the most.
‘Hazar Vela Sholay Pahilela Manus’ premiered at the MAMI Film Festival last year, it was shown at Cannes, and this year it is having its Asia premiere at IFFI, Goa
It is a big thing to have your film shown at such a big film festival and I’m looking forward to watching it with the audience. Last year, my film Gandhi Talks was premiered at IFFI. The film will released this year.
