Actor Ssmilly Suri has now opened up on the spat between her relatives Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt. Ssmilly, who is the niece of Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, recently spoke about how the tiff between them didn’t affect her.
Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, she shared that the tiff between them didn’t affect her as they were ‘never a family’. Ssmilly stated that she was herself an outsider so these things didn’t affect her.“These things were bound to happen. We were never united. It’s sad but I don’t think we ever were a family,” she said. Ssmilly further spoke about how a lot of families go through this. She also added that sibling rivalry happens, but often stays hidden. “Ghar ki baat ghar mein rahne chahiye (Family matters should stay inside the house),” she stated.
The Bhatt brothers made films together for 30 years, under one banner. But later they parted ways and Mukesh Bhatt took over the production banner, and Mahesh stepped out.
Ssmilly also spoke about the financial constraints she had, including having lived with Rs 2 in the bank. She revealed that she used to train people in pole dancing while in Singapore.“I had to buy that pole and it was $1000. There were times when I had no money. I was calculating that if I don’t eat for four days, I might be able to buy the pole. So, I did that,” she said.
She further spoke about the tough times during the covid, while she was in Mumbai. She had food to feed her dogs, but she would survive on coffee and one banana for a day. She recalled losing weight during the time, and her brother filmmaker Mohit Suri transferred her some money. “There have been days when I have starved,” she revealed.
