Amitabh Bachchan has always been known for his progressive views and a strong sense of justice, especially when it comes to his family. Big B had once revealed his plans on how his children will inherit his property and assets.
In an interview with Rediff in 2011, the superstar stated that he would divide his property equally between his daughter, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, and son, Abhishek Bachchan.He stressed that he has decided not to differentiate between his children. The ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ star shared that he has decided to equally divide ‘whatever little’ he has and there will be no differentiation.
Senior Bachchan shared that he took the decision along with his wife Jaya, a long time ago. He expressed that although society often views daughters as ‘paraya dhan’, belonging to their husband’s family, he firmly believes that his daughter, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, holds the same rights as his son, Abhishek Bachchan. Reflecting this belief, Bachchan gifted his bungalow, Jalsa, to Shweta earlier, which has a property valued at approximately Rs. 50 crores.
The megastar also reflected on his relationship with his son, Abhishek Bachchan. He mentioned that he has always seen him more as a friend than as a son. According to Amitabh, he had decided long before Abhishek was born that if he had a son, he would be treated as a friend. He added that the moment Abhishek started wearing his shoes, that bond was established. Big B added that although he maintains a fatherly concern, care, and guidance, their interactions are more like those between friends.
