Ratan Tata, the legendary Indian industrialist who passed away at 86 on October 9, 2024, left behind countless memories, both personal and public. One such unforgettable moment was when he met legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash in an unexpected setting.
In 2022, Tata shared a surprising yet heartwarming post on Instagram, recounting his encounter with the ‘polite’ rockstar.The meeting took place during a visit to a Jaguar dealership in California, where Tata, known for his love of luxury cars, crossed paths with him. The musician was at the dealership to collect his new Jaguar XKR.
Tata expressed his excitement in the post, writing, “The day I visited Galpin Jaguar on one of my retail outlet visits, I was excited to meet this gentleman from Guns N’ Roses who was taking delivery of his new Jaguar XKR. A very polite rockstar, Slash.”
The final rites of the renowned industrialist and philanthropist were performed with full state honours at a central Mumbai crematorium on Thursday evening. The Mumbai police paid tribute to Tata with a gun salute. The industry titan’s family members, including brother Noel Tata, and top executives from the Tata Group like chairman N Chandrasekaran, were present at the crematorium in Worli.
The last rites were performed as per the Parsi tradition, one of the priests present at the crematorium said to PTI.
After the funeral, there will be three more days of rituals which will be conducted at the late industrialist’s bungalow in Colaba, south Mumbai.
