Amit Sadh, who is known for his roles in ‘Kai Po Che’!, ‘Sultan,’ and ‘Breathe,’ recently discussed feeling lost and alone in the industry and the pressure to stay in the spotlight to get more work, despite his years as an actor.
When asked about it, Amit told Bollywood Bubble, “Starting mein feel karta tha. Maine koshish bhi ki apne aap ko badalne ki. Then I realised ki it wasn’t needed.Of course as human beings, as a person you want to get better as it is an individual journey I’m on like everyone else. Fir mujhe nahi laga ki… Mujhe joh acceptance chahiye thi industry se nahi milli (Then I didn’t feel that… I didn’t get the acceptance I needed from the industry).”
He further mentioned that since he is also rebellious, he had distanced himself from everyone and had become invisible everywhere. He noted that many people had instilled fear by suggesting that if he wasn’t visible or didn’t engage with paparazzi, he wouldn’t get any film opportunities, which made him even more disheartened. Despite working hard for 10, 15, or 20 years, being punctual, and not wasting a producer’s money, he felt that makers still weren’t acknowledging his work.
“They say ‘paps karoge toh hero ban jaoge’ ya bade actor ban jaoge, aur kaam milega (If you engage with paparazzi, you’ll become a hero or a big actor, and you’ll get more work). So I went through my set of turbulence. Time heals things, and if it doesn’t, then you have to do it yourself,” Amit concluded.
In the same interview, Amit also talked about finding comfort in riding motorcycles and how it helped him through depression.
